I was hearing at a normal level from my left ear (which is moderate-severe hearing loss) and right ear (severe hearing loss) and had a shower.
I think I got water in my ear, and afterwards I couldnāt hear anything at all from my left ear. Nothing.
It terrified me.
Iāve had water in my ear a lot, and it is normally a āDammit! Iām gonna be having discharge and pain for a week or soā
But this felt different. It is different, because I canāt hear out of it at all right now. Itās been like this since Friday morning and nothing is helping it.
Iāve called my GP and theyāre saying āWe can have a telephone appointment to see whether you need to come inā and Iām like āI literally canāt hear anything at all, I really need helpāā¦ nothing changed their mind, so Iāve gotta try a phone call tomorrow, while Iām struggling with hearing, to then inevitably be told to come in to see them, then get referred to audiology, and deal with all of the waiting and fear involved with whatever might be the issue.
Wanna make matters worse? Iāve got two interviews next week and Iām worried that Iāll have to cancel them because I canāt hear anything right now, and I donāt know when this will get sorted.
Iāve had five angry crying breakdowns today because of it.
I need to have these interviews so I can get another job, so that I can move to this other city and then be closer to my friends, and generally feel better.
But I am probably fucked. No way am I gonna be able to hear them if thereās no change in my hearing.
I donāt know what to do and Iām scared.
