Is it possible for unobtainable weapons to drop from elite enemies?

I recently killed an elite, and they happened to drop the Meat Skewer, which I hadn’t obtained yet. So far the only weapons I’ve gotten from elites are those already in my repertoire. I’ve never seem this happen before, and I’d like to know if others experienced this as well :)
