How to grind better?

So I started playing the game around the time Sadako came out and got to account level 81 before I stopped playing. I came back recently, cause I missed this game, and am realising how much I need to grind.
I already have some of the DLC killers and their perks but I always feel the need to have the most meta perks, which all happen to be killers I don’t have.
Is there any proper ways to grind the game? Does the meta even matter that much or am I just suffering from FOMO?
