Okay so let me preface this by saying that I really don't intend for this to be mean, but whenever it's time to shit on BHVR, whether it be for balancing, power design, monetisation etc. People will immediately put the art department on a pedestal as the only consistent thing in the game, and while by no means there aren't gems (the cinematic trailers, basically all of Dredge skins) the art department is falling off.
Knight, Skull Merchant and Singularity have been comically over-designed and cluttered with unnecessary details for what are otherwise simple premises and look even worse when compared to earlier original killers like Nurse, Huntress and Wraith who have simple but effective designs. Couple that with a constant flow of ugly as sin survivor skins that seem to expose the art team's fetish like obsession with urban tech/streetwear and it's no wonder why some of the most hyped killers and survivors in a while have all been licensed (AKA other people's designs) or literally designed by industry veterans like Ikumi Nakamura.
Oh, and I especially hate how lazy the blighted skins have become. The blighted skins usually used to heighten a character aspect of a killer to gruesome effect, like the hooks through Trapper, the Wraith having a hole in his chest so you can literally and metaphorically see through him, Nurse having organic pipes feeding her oxygen etc. And now blighted skins amount to splashing some orange goo and pustules on a killer with no rhyme or reason and calling it a day.
