I tried trunk to play an Armataur. Was planning 3 runes but I've found some amazing gear. What I have left to clear: crypt/tomb/hells/pan/abyss/zot.

Any though on how to tackle extended? Do people get 14 runes with Trog? (I've tried and died.) But Trog wrath seems like a really dumb way for this to end.

My main 2 questions:

Which weapon? I've been using the flaming exe axe and the vampiric battle axe, but maybe I should switch to Condemnation shield.

Is there any sense in abandoning Trog, say for TSO? Not like I need him to bless a weapon, but I lack AOE.

UPDATE: Alright you degenerates convinced me.

I abandoned Trog for TSO and cleared crypt and waited out Trog's wrath in the Abyss, as commenters here suggested.

In the crypt I encountered a new-to-me unique, a blue L named Josephina. That was bad but I reset that fight and met her 1:1 on a corridor and it was fine.

After Crypt I went to Abyss. I never took portals or downstairs but the game shoved me down a floor every so often. By the time I wore off Trog's wrath, I was on Abyss:4, and I grabbed the rune and left.

I don't want to say Trog's wrath was easy -- in fact berserked stone giants Iron trolls were really quite dangerous. However besides Josephina nothing besides Trog's wrath in Crypt 1-3 or Abyss 1-4 was particularly dangerous. So it was a matter of being paranoid in open spaces, least Trog strike, and thinking carefully when the hordes appeared. Blink helped.
