I've been playing Crawl for about 15 years, and I've now won 5 times. I have never had a 15 rune win. I've had ~10 characters try and die in extended (at least 3 to Cerebov and 2 in Tomb.)

I finally did it!!!!

Now I can't resist telling you about how it went.

I love trolls though I've never won with one. I started Hu for rocks. On D:4 I found a scroll of acquirement and got this:

That's when I knew the game might be special. I wore that armor for the whole game. Never used Gozag before -- really good! Rather late -- after the Lair branches and Vaults, I diverted my xp away from physical skills and got Statue Form.

At that point my offense was so insane that the game was mostly easy mode. A few moments of terror/danger:

While killing TRJ I got berserkitis mutation and when berserk with health in the read and surrounded by slimes, who also pushed me off the stairs. I burned a bunch of blink scrolls and Gozag potion petitions, let the mob follow me, and then blinked back to the stairs.

On Zot:4 I stupidly went down an escape hatch instead of the stairs, and landed in the Orb vault, with 3 orbs of fire and an ancient lich in LOS, and god knows what else. It was a question if Tele would kick in before I died, but it did.

I bribed the holy Pan floor but kept exploring after my bribe ran out, and at one point was pressganged by 6 Devas, all smiting me.

Other than that: Hells and Pan were shockingly easy. The hell/pan lords, including my nemesis Cerebov, just had no answer to stone claws and ~25 unarmed, and 1's aren't so scary when you can 1 shot them.

I saved up all my money to bribe Tomb because Tomb terrified me. And so I had an army of Mummies exploring Tomb with me. Still had a scary moment at the beginning of the Tomb 1 outer loop when I got swarmed by Royal Mummies. I had a dozen allies by all the death curses were still happening to me. Portal projective and silver javelins plus many potions saved the day.

All in all I can't believe how easy all of extended was after all the times I've died there. This char was just so tanky and hit so, so hard.
