Hey /r/DCSS !

Would like some help on the (supposedly) easy play with Minotaur Berserker. Just finished another typical run and just don't know why i can't progress further than about XL 11. (My best run has only scored 34k points for now...) This was about my 50th run i guess.

Character Dump

Got a lot of good items but when i went into Lair i ran into a 5-headed hydra which i first ran away from, back up the stairs to recover as i had only half my health points left. So when i went down again i berserked and killed the hydra but then got immediatly killed by Fannar.No time for quaffing or anything else i think...? What could i have done better there? Maybe use the wand of confusion on the hydra or the wand of enslavement?

edit: a question that the wiki couldn't answer me is:

why do I automatically take off my scale mail and put on my chain mail when i want to put on my cloak? the game doesn't give any hints either... Whats the conditions to be able to use a cloak?
