This is a super trashy Dollar General at Salem and Grand that has been a thorn in the side of residents in the adjacent neighborhoods (Grafton Hill and Dayton View Historic District) as well as other NW Dayton neighborhoods (Jane Reece, University Row, Five Oaks and Dayton View Triangle). We are SO THRILLED that the City has listened to complaints of trash and put teeth in their agreement that Dollar General has to take the simple steps of keeping their store clean in order to maintain a liquor license. Hopefully the loss of said license will lead to DG losing lots of money and closing this store. It is never stocked, always a total embarrassment of a mess inside and out, and is no longer needed with the opening of Gem City Market across Salem that has fresh groceries and a mission and vision to serve NW Dayton residents. Can this eyesore DG be demolished?? Itβs common knowledge that DG only hurts communities. This area is currently being revitalized with National Church Residences rehabilitating the beautiful Grand Place apartments and renovating Longfellow School into a beautiful community catering to elderly LGBT residents of Dayton. Good riddance, DG!!
