IOS audio popping and muffled, needs reboot to clear

Is anyone else running into an issue with audio recordings? I’m on 16.4.1 and the latest build of Day One.

When I start an audio recording using any method in Day One it destroys the audio system in a specific way: there are two pops, then the audio is extremely muffled/distorted to the point of being unrecognizable. This then carries forward to the voice notes app. Audi recording works fine in the camera video recording mode.

When I restart the phone this clears for the voice notes app and it’s crystal clear. As soon as I try and record a voice note in the Day One app, the behavior starts back up for both apps.

I had voice transcription turned off initially then repeated the process with it on. Same results.
