So as we all know, if you work with 6k files and your timeline isn't 6k, you get garbage out because footage is downsampled to timeline resolution before any processing (such as denoise, sharpening, grading, etc.) is applied.
Having tried working with 6k files that're graded, the workflow was very awkward. I have a fast machine (5gb/s ssd, 2080ti, 32gb ram, etc.) and initially this works fine for 6k files, but as soon as a bit of processing is applied, it bogs down to the point where it couldn't be edited anymore because playing back was like 1 frame every few seconds.
So I've taken to import my files at full resolution, get rid of the noise/sharpness issues up front, toggle off denoise, set my timeline back from 6k to 1080p, grade/composit/edit at that resolution, go to deliver, set my project back to 6k, render, figure out what's not working, set it back to 1080p, massage it some more, set it back to 6k to deliver, etc.
Surely there has got to be a better way...
