Syncing two video clips to one (long) audio clip
Post Body

I filmed a band, and halfway through the set I had to shut down the camera to switch batteries, meaning I have two video clips (with camera audio). Audio was also separately recorded via a board feed as well as a high-end stereo microphone. I now need to sync the good audio to the 2 video clips. I'm running into the following problems:

  • Auto-align clips does not work, as there is more than one video clip
  • Manually aligning the clips in the Edit page is next to impossible, as I cannot zoom in far enough to see the waveforms well enough to line up the clips
  • Manually aligning the clips in Fairlight is easy, as I can zoom in far enough. However, doing that causes the camera audio to become un-synced with the video

How do I sync the audio? Is there a way to preserve the link between the camera audio and the video in Fairlight?

Edit: Windows 10 OS, Resolve Studio vs. 18.
