AWS... probably not viable

All these people talking about AWS as the grand solution to all these problems... I doubt many of you have any idea how much that really costs. There's a reason lots of companies try to develop their own cloud infrastructure rather than pay the huge fees to use AWS.

I work for a very large company that provides services using cloud infrastructure, and while we do use AWS, we tried everything we could to avoid it because it is just SO expensive. And when you're talking about having to have data streams for Big Data and Analytics back to some other system that can ingest and actually report on that data... you've got constant data transfer in and out of AWS which also causes your costs to rise. It's just not a sustainable infrastructure if you're on a budget, which I assume an indie game studio is.

Yes, this situation is frustrating, but stop acting like AWS is the magic bullet to all the issues of the online gaming world, because it's really, really not. At least, not until it's cheaper.
