Is my avoidant bf scared or just not interested?
Post Body

I've been dating this guy just over three months and texted fo 6 months before that (he lived abroad at the time). He is definitely avoidant in many ways (and has told me as much - so he's aware) and I'm finding quite diffiuclt. He is not an outwardly flirty guy, struggles to give compliments etc. but that doesn't bother me, and up till now it was obvious he cared; future plans, small thoughtful gifts, rearranging plans to have more time with me etc.

About two weeks ago we went on a trip together. Both had a blast. During the night I asked if he was my boyfriend. He was hesitant (he said due to past hurt etc.) but after thinking said yes and it ended up being quite romantic.

Since then he's been entirely different. He was away for a few days after we got back and was super affectionate. Texting me how much he missed me, how great I am bla bla bla. It was unlike him but appreciated. Then once he got back he's been so cold with me. We still make plans but it seems like it's a chore to him. We text everyday still but the time he tells me he's "going to bed" at is getting earlier and earlier, like he just can't be bothered to talk. When I tell him things about myself he acts like he isn't listening. I asked him if he wanted to be my plus one for something at the end of the month and he said he's need to think about it. It's difficult to accurately share what he has been like without divulging loads of personal information.

I feel like he's trying to distance himself from me so I'll be the one who breaks up with him and he won't have to admit to sabotaging a promising relationship... or maybe he's just bored of me idk.
