Do people still ask to be “official”?
Post Body

In my (37F) last relationship, after about 2 months, the person I had been seeing put together a little romantic display of candles, champagne, flowers, and gifts and asked me to be his girlfriend. He was still in his 20s. Is this something people still do in their 30s? I’ve been seeing someone for three months. We discussed being exclusive about a month in. He mentions things like having a future, meeting each others’ families, and we’re planning a staycation together. As far as I can tell, we are both interested in evolving this to a relationship. Am I being immature in waiting for him to ask me? We are moving much slower than what I’m used to, but I’m ok with it right now. We are both in transitional periods in our careers and that’s taking up a lot of time and attention. I’m still not quite ready, but the emotional side of me is that wondering when (if) he’ll ask me to be his girlfriend.
