I was married for 24 years before it ended (for those that are curious, I would apportion 85% my fault), and I’m getting back into the dating universe. I have signed up for damn near every “app” out there, and my luck hasn’t been terrible, but also not the best. I consider myself to be average looking, and relatively intelligent. I pride myself in being 100% honest, and have actually become very aware of the “nice guy” trope that is flooding the world. I definitely don’t want to fall into that category.
On the dating apps, I’m finding a lot of women that are considerably younger, but very few that are close to my age. It may be a stretch, but I confine my looking to 40-60. I’m finding very few matches, and when I do, I seem to get ghosted quickly. My biggest fear is I’m doing something wrong, but it seems to be the norm. Many of the women I talk to say they get it a lot too.
I guess the advice I’m looking for is twofold. First, is being ghosted the “new normal”? Second, is there a site/app that might be better than others to avoid this kind of thing? Any general advice would be welcome.
