58M - 17 years divorced, have done my share of dating since. Long terms & short. Years (maybe 10) after swearing off internet dating, I recently gave POF one more try after being single since December of last year. One of the women I was chatting with insisted we meet after about three weeks of getting-to-know-you electronic chats. I was hesitant due to her striking profile picture, and told her I don't think I'm your type, despite nice chats and similar interests. I was nervous and a little intimidated. As it turned out, for good reason lol. I met her at a nice local bar. Waited in the parking lot to walk in with her. Sat at a table (the bar was full) Ordered two Corona's, that were her beer of choice. And said, it's nice to finally meet you. 15 seconds later she grabbed her phone, looked down at it, and said I have a family emergency, got up & left. Bang! Just like that. I understand that not everybody fits everybody else's eye. And sometimes a profile picture (and nice chats) won't add up to or match the person who is "finally" just across the table from you. Despite being current & recent. Everybody handles these awkward situations the way they see fit. I understand that. But this one stung. She could have at least finished the Corona! PROFILE DELETED! Back to the organic way.
