Brand Loyalty Conflicts?
Post Body

This is facetious but why not. True: I'm in an LDR and we haven't seen each other much, so we're still learning lots of things about each other, particularly things you just don't think about normally.

Example, we have separate households. If we were to combine households, we'd end up purging a lot of duplicates. My kitchen is full of Kitchenaid products. She's a Cuisinart girl woman. Ordinarily I wouldn't give this kind of thing a second of thought, but in this case--what if she doesn't immediately recognize the superiority of Kitchenaid appliances? Do I really have to toast bread in a Cuisinart for the rest of my life? Or do I have to sabotage it when she's not around so that she decides my Kitchenaid toaster really is better?

On a more serious level--I'm still of a generation when people were Ford vs. Chevy vs. Mopar (Chrysler/Dodge/Plymouth) families. Still a lot of brand loyalty but more options now. I'm lucky that she's not a Ford family (never again). I know why she bought x- and y-brand cars the last couple times; enough to make me worry that if we buy a car together, she's going to want something I think should go straight to a crusher.

She's smart--maybe smarter than I am--so it's difficult to win arguments with her on these kinds of topics.

Anyone else go through this? If their refrigerator is stacked with Coke or Budweiser or Smithfield hams or some other devisive brand, do you call them on it, make sure you know the closest exits, or grit your teeth and wade in?
