Why do people reply to posts of people they have nothing in common with?

I just don't get it. And this is w/o or with a photo! I mean I'd understand if someone, a man, saw a pict they really liked and thought "What the heck.." but w/o a photo? For instance, I always include "intellectual, political" and I get replies from people who barely follow current events! I understand that for some people intellect doesn't count, it's more about other things, but not for me. It makes me feel unreal, like it really doesn't matter what I write, at all.
