Might be obvious but I’m writing this because I’ve known many people who avoid major life topics with their partner because it’s “too soon” or “don’t want to cause an argument.” Guys…..it’s best to resolve the big topics asap instead of getting emotionally invested for months and even years THEN realize you can’t stand the fact that your partner is (example) a Biden / Trump supporter.
Personal example: my then-girlfriend (now wife) and I, at around the 2 month mark, spent a few days just laying it all out. Everything from future deal-breakers to mental illnesses to difficult family members. Could it have gone south and we could’ve broken up? Of course, but it’s way better to (example) break up at 2 months because I’m forever childfree than at 4 years!!!
We checked all our important boxes and moved on: childfree for life, commitment to social justice (homeless, ex offenders, orphans), Christian, vegetarian, future adoption, ok with mental illnesses and autism, among others.
Just my two cents. Be brave. Be honest.
