Listen. Listen. I know this is going to sound fake as soon as I say what my type is. I promise it's not fake. I am just weird.

I'm really into lonely, socially awkward gamer dudes. You're fat, have acne, and play Destiny or MtG? Be still my beating heart. You don't know how to socially interact with people because you've spent the past decade binge playing videogames and only talking to other lonely gamers? Swoon.

I love the role I get to fill in these relationships. It makes me happy to cook for my partner and be supportive and listen to them try to explain their videogames to me because I love how nerdy guys light up when they find someone who actually listens when they gush about their character builds or deck builds or whatnot. Genuinely, my favorite relationships have been with guys like this. It makes me feel good to take on a caretaker role in a relationship and the guys like this I've dated have always been more than happy to rely on me for the kind of emotional care that I get joy out of giving.

However, I'm 26 now and it's not as easy to meet guys like this as it was in high school/when I had more of my old high school connections. Also, I'm a very queer, very trans, very left wing person and most of the nerdy guys I run into are very against people like me existing, so I struggle to find guys I'm into that could also potentially be into me.

Is there... anywhere I can meet guys like this? Genuine, honest question. I've tried dating apps/sites and there's not many guys like this on them, or at least if they are I'm just not seeing them. Do I just have to start awkwardly lurking around my local game stores? I don't actually know how to play any card games or video games so I feel like a bit of an imposter going alone to game stores. I've had exes try to get me into their nerd hobbies and it's never worked-- I love hearing about their hobbies and supporting their interests, but I can't seem to get into those things myself.

Any advice is appreciated, lol. Again, I swear up, down, and sideways that this is a real and actual situation I find myself in 😅
