Is it okay to lie about being shorter on dating apps?
Post Body

I (23 M) have been getting back into dating apps recently, I have had some success in the past but nothing too big. However one thing I’m doing differently this time around is that I’m claiming that my height is around the US average (5’9) rather than listening my actual height, which is roughly 6’1. I’m trying this because some people in the past have treated me in a sort of dehumanizing way because of my height. Dates have said to my face they probably wouldn’t date me if I was below 6 feet, or have treated me like I’m some kind of bodyguard rather than being an actual person. Most of the dates I have been on haven’t fetishized me for my height, but the small few that have kind of soured others having that preference for me. I think I would rather just date someone that doesn’t care about how tall I am, which is thankfully most people, but I don’t want people to be angry with me when they find out I’m actually fairly tall. Am I doing the right thing here? Or is there some other approach I should be taking? Mind you, this is all coming from a straight man going on dates with primarily women.
