My friend has asked me (24F) to come for a trip to the US with her. Itâs more of a holiday not necessarily âtravellingâ. I am newly single and I am worried that if I have been to a different country it will be a bad look for my next potential boyfriend. The reason why I have these thoughts is because my ex boyfriend would say stuff like âa guy should never date a girl who travels because she would have obviously slept with loads of different guysâ or âdonât date a girl who travels because she has already had lots of different experiences and a guy always wants a girl who no experience so he can be the one who shows her new thingsâ. He would also say âif you have done travelling youâll never find a masculine man with conservative values who wants to be a provider for youâ. Just plenty of comments of this nature. Unfortunately, my exâs way of thinking is now a little voice in the back of my head & I keep having these awful doubts about doing these kind of things, because ultimately my main goal is life is to be married and raise children. I am worried that he is right & I wonât be able to find a man with similar conservative values to me if I do go on this holiday. If I have gone on a holiday with my friend to another country, would this be a deal breaker?
