I [21F] have been talking to this guy [21M] for a couple weeks (we met on Tinder). It’s been a good conversation but I admit that it’s dragged a little due to me being out of town for the holidays: we’ve not been able to have a first date because of this. He’s given some texting cues that he’s a little awkward but I let it slide. We don’t have much in common but he’s nice.
We’ve engaged in typical conversation, asking about hobbies, school, and other things. It got a little weird today, though. He asked me, “what age do you think you’re going to die?” It threw me for a loop, obviously, so I told him that I thought it was a weird question. He then reworded it by saying, “what age is the best age to die in your opinion?” I quickly responded “I guess when it’s my time” so as to stop the discussion from going further, and I delved in more by asking him why he wanted my outlook (in an effort to understand what made him ask me that). He responded, “I’m just trying to get to know you I suppose. I’ll not talk about these topics if you prefer.” I’ve not texted him since.
It honestly made me uncomfortable and his vibes are just off. I’ve talked to some friends about it and they think it’s too much of a red flag, and that there may be something malicious going on on his part. Am I just overthinking? Should I call things off or stop talking to him? I just don’t think it’s appropriate to bring that up when you barely know someone, especially if you’ve never gone out with them or even had a phone call. Thanks in advance.
