For some context- I (M21) am currently in college and living with 3 other dudes. We all are following the same degree program and are really close. One of them, who we will call Greg, dated this girl, who we will call Megan, early on freshman year, who is also in our degree program. It didn’t end up working out between them for a myriad of reasons, but they have stayed best friends since breaking up.

Recently, I told Greg that I’ve started to develop feelings for Megan, and he was super psyched for me and told me he’s fully in support. Megan and I are also good friends, so originally I thought it’s not a bad idea to ask her out and see what happens.

However, at a party the other night, Megan, myself, and another friend of ours were chatting and she talked about how she knows once we all are graduated, since we all intend to be going to the same place post grad, she knows her and Greg will end up together, and how Greg is the only ex of hers she’d start dating again right now if he asked. This was a huge bummer to hear, and so now I’m wondering if it’s even worth pursuing anymore, given her mindset?
