What is the general consensus on men dating older women?

I was chatting with one of my old friends (male) yesterday, and he’s dating a woman around 2 years older than him (he’s 31, and his GF is 33). He was saying he feels a little uncomfortable occasionally about it because he feels people sometimes judge him for it and he’s having second thoughts at times. Is it uncommon for men to date older women, and when they do is there sometimes surprise/judgment about it?
