Getting back into dating

Matched with a couple women on match, coffeeMeetsBaegal and bumble. They made me question a couple things. Some asked me to add their snap and after that wanted me to PayPal them 50 to meet them for dinner or coffee since I had to pay for their time as their time was $$. With match and bumble it was either the same or just without the Snapchat and just pay them via cashapp or Venmo. Is this a new age scam women do or is this normal that men are expected to pay for women to meet and then the cost of the date, dinner etc? It made me feel like I was paying for an escort if no sex and prostitution if it lead to sex later. Am I over thinking this and this is all in my head and it’s all legal?
