So I’ve (35M) been talking to this woman (34F) on a dating app. We and our interests perfectly match and the conversations were great. We both agreed that we find the time for a meetup once she is back from her skiing trip.
Since she was with her girlfriends and was said to be tired she started to answer more slowly. So, I thought I’d be a gentleman and respect her time with her friends and not spam messages all day. In the end, it would only be 3,4 days until she would be back, so I leave her my WhatsApp. Surely, she would write back, if she were still interested.
She does indeed write back saying she was sorry for not replying. I give a well formulated reply stating that it is no problem and that I wanted to give her space and to enjoy the time with friends.
But, now she stops replying again so I wait for a few days and then wrote sometimes like this: - I noticed you stopped replying - I am looking for someone like you and want to reflect on what went wrong - I will not get upset and will not to try to defend myself
She gives me a well written reply saying that it is not me and that she feels like she cannot invest time into dating since she is under pressure from work, has to travel, has social events etc.
I also give a thought out reply: - I understand your situation - thank you for your honest reply - it would be indeed best to focus on what is important to you - until you reevaluate, all the best - thanks for the book recommendation
She instantly replies “ you are welcome. I am glad you like the book”
Now my predicament is that I cannot get over it. I do think I handled the situation maturely and in a civilized manner and that she was also polite, articulate and actually bothered to give an explanation. We both work high pressure jobs, so I kind of understand that she may feel overwhelmed by life.
I am in good place in life, with a good job at a respectable company, do sports 4 times a week, eat, sleep well and know how to handle a woman. My previous relationship which ended in may 2023 lasted 10 years.
What should I do? What did I do wrong? Should I even try to casually ask her out for the next Dune movie in 3 weeks? She did mention she loved the first one.
Sorry for the long text and any spelling mistakes. English is not my first language.
Thank you!
