This question was inspired by a similar one I saw somewhere which said something like ‘would you want to marry you?’. I thought it’d be helpful to make it relevant to this sub bc I’ve seen too many posts recently from people who seem to hate themselves yet yearn for a loving relationship. If you are one of those posters or feel similarly, I’d encourage you to think about whether you’d want to date you as you are today.
My answer to the original question was no and it prompted me to think about the type of person I’d like to be in my future partnership. Then I started to embody the behaviours of that person and whilst I’m still single, I’d now be happy to date and marry myself!
I know making change is easier said than done but nothing changes if nothing changes. And I know we’re all starting from different places, and how negative dating experiences can be disheartening but you gotta love on yaself first bc no one can do that for you. (And I know that is deffo easier said than done!)
Also, I haven’t considered every single possible factor which may affect an individual’s ability to answer yes to this q, so pls don’t come at me abt considerations which I may not have been able to think abt when I posted this!
Anyways just thought I’d share something i found useful, hope it’s useful to someone else.
