I see a lot of posts where people are told that their particular situation is ACTUALLY NOT ghosting, lol. So in my instance I was actually contacted by a woman (super rare for me) and we chatted, made plans very quickly and met IRL.
The usual banter about future plans were made, declarations of a 'good time' being had were expressed, and then a few messages later there were no messages.
And guess what? I'm totally fine with it! It was my first date in 10 years since my wife and I separated. Sure I was hoping for more dates and maybe something physical but you know what? It still did wonders for my self confidence and I genuinely had a good time.
I know in this day and age of OLD that wearing the wrong shoes or having an eyebrow hair out of place is enough to get you ignored by someone as they return to the seemingly infinite pool of available people on dating sites/aps so I'm fine with it.
Somehow I actually feel MORE hopeful about my chances in the future and even more okay sending messages to women on apps and getting my usual no responses. It's unlikely I can make myself appealing to everyone and since there generally isn't a debriefing where the ghoster goes over what in particular is going to lead them to disappearing I'll just keep working on me and hope that the numbers are also on my side.
Eventually I'll find someone that finds so few faults in me that they'll stick around.
Anyway, that was my experience.
