Hello everyone,

I hope that you're all doing well.

I have a question about first (and potentially subsequent) dates.

I'm trying to establish what would be considered a well thought out, yet unique first date, compared to say one that is well meaning, but perhaps a bit overboard.

Maybe I'm being overly hastey, but I would really like to tailor first dates to be quite unique, memorable and above all else enjoyable for the company I'm with, as well as myself of course.

I do think that being in an environment where you can easily talk to each other and especially have deep, personal conversations is of paramount importance, however, I also think that coupling such an experience with say Rock Climbing, Axe Throwing, or a pot making class would also be really fun and quite different from something she may otherwise be used to.

For me, it's very much about catering the date to the individual you're seeing, doing something that's orientated around an interest, or passion of their's. Case in point, quite recently, I booked a tour and then later tasting at a local cheese manufacturer, as the lady I was meeting and had been speaking to for about a month up until that point, really liked cheese.

Unfortunately, she bailed part way through the date, just after we finished dinner and I had to cancel the tour, so I do fear that doing such grandiose things for a first, second, or even third date could come back to bite me in the ass.

So what say you good people of Reddit?

Is it advisable to stick to the safe option of meeting in a restaurant, cafe, bar ect, or do you think that it's ever worth pushing the boat out a bit and daring to do something exciting and unique for a first, second, or third date, especially if it's orientated around a passion/interst of the person that you are meeting?

I would throughly appreciate any ideas, or light shed on this.

Many thanks to you all!
