What are Feminine and Masculine energies?

Recently returned to the online dating scene, but before I make my exit, I need to ask…what is with this “feminine” and “masculine” energy stuff I keep encountering?

Context

I’m a guy, so I’m usually encountering these quotes on women’s profiles:

  • “In my feminine energy…looking for a man in his masculine energy”

  • “Looking for a man in his masculine energy to match my feminine energy”

…or something to that effect. It kind of sounds/feels like an earlier version of an online dating trope I encountered about 15 years ago when many women’s profiles had a little quote in there about wanting a man who “has his shit together” (the 2010s were an earlier, more vulgar version of the matrix).

At the time that meant someone who had a job, a car, and their own place. My interpretation of that was that the guy was to be secure in his ability to act as a provider to the girl by having the ability to pay for dates, take them places, and have a private place where they could be intimate. Mind you these were 18-20 year olds making these requests, and the cohort least likely to have their shit together? 18-20 year olds.

So we arrive at today and it kind of feels like ain’t a damn thing changed, except the language and presentation. Does anyone have a solid explanation of what feminine/masculine energy is and could they be so kind as to give this guy some solid examples to better understand?
