Hi. 26 year old male who is a virgin.

I never saw the benefit of sleeping with a random stranger. Growing up as a teen, I would always hear about other kids my age brag about having sex and doing all these type of things. At the time I somewhat jealous and self-conscious.

Now tho I don't really care. So i dont do hook ups. Sleeping with strangers doesn't apeal to me. I'm not shaming people who do hook ups.

But a lot of people my age range just want hook ups. I'm not into that. If I don't have some type of emotional connection with this person, I don't have sex with them. And once I get attached, it's hard for me to detach. So I want to make sure I really like the person and that I plan on seeing them in the future.

And as it seems to very popular, but am I somehow weird for not wanting hook ups? It was an interesting question I thought about while I was at work and I wanted to post it here to get some engagement.

Edit: ok I wasn't expecting this much. Firstly thank you for the responses. Very insightful. I have seen some comments that goes something like "why knock it if you haven't tired it". To that I say, I don't need to experience something in order to not want it. Again I got nothing against humans who do hook ups. Do what makes you happy. I just know doing hook ups won't make me happy at all. Again thank you for the engagement.
