What factors (experiences, acquired/inherent personality traits, events, issues, etc.) would lend people to avoid the decision of ending or focus on address the problems of their relationship when legitimate doubts occur about the relationship being worthwhile to them or not?

I ask as someone who hasn't been in a relationship before. I would rather the person not worry about saving my feelings by not having these hard, uncomfortable conversations rather than my feelings being hurt by being strung along and the possibility of experiencing the deep hurts from cheating/stepping out.
