Asking from the perspective of a man who is dating a woman, we're in our early 30's. So far in our relationship (~1 year) we've generally split costs of dates fairly close. Not 50/50 but probably 60/40 or 70/30 with me paying the majority. We never talked about it, that's just how it's shaken out and probably pretty similar to how our incomes compare too.
She suggested the idea of a long weekend getaway. Renting an airbnb somewhere outside the city. The major costs would be a rental car and accommodations for a few nights, and then whatever we decide to do and eat while we're there.
I realize I just need to talk to her about how she envisions splitting costs for this but I'm curious to hear from others as well. How do you split the costs when going on trips with your partner?
Mainly looking for non-married couples, obviously once you're married money becomes a different thing considering you and your spouse are essentially one financial unit with shared money.
