Question for Single Parents: what's your opinion on getting sitters for a date night?

Recently started seeing a guy with 2 little ones. He readily admits to using family and sitters for various occasions. What should my expectations be as far as date nights? Obviously sh*t happens with kids, but if he's canceling often that means he's not interested, correct? How do you parents feel about getting sitters for a date?
