Advice for Long Distance Crush?

Post Body

So I matched up with this guy on Facebook Dating back in December and we kept in touch since then. He's a flight attendant for a mainline carrier. Due to the timing and distance, I struggled with communication so I got a little needy and he lost interest. I was able to get his interest back again after a couple of months, but then lost it again due to overthinking and sending too many texts. Last week, I finally met up with him for the first time while I was in New York and we got along great and explored around the city together but only as friends. We had the same chemistry in person as we did over the phone and I think there's great potential for compatible relationship. For me and I think for him, the timing isn't the best to start a relationship right now with everything going on.

Since then, he's been more responsive and a lot more willing to chat. I still think there's potential for a relationship down the line, but I think it's better to build a stronger friendship before anything else. I admitted I still liked him, but am happy where we are at and didn't want that confession to change anything. Starting next month, I'm actually going to training to become a flight attendant for the same mainline carrier and hope to get based in New York like he is for a multitude of reasons. But until then, I'm hoping to build on this friendship and get closer and see if there still is romantic potential. I have just struggled with long distance communication in the past and don't want to push him away again when everything is going so well.
