Why do women put nothing in their dating profiles

How am I, as a man, supposed to initiate a conversation with a woman when I have nothing to go on?
Or will the women with nothing in their profile initiate a conversation with a man they find attractive?
Or do they just want to browse, or inflate their ego by getting likes, or are they just completely clueless.
Disclaimer: I am a man that likes women, that's why I'm talking about women. I realize that men may do this as well.
