You're under no obligation to answer, but can I ask what about the philosophical basis for the senate you believe to still be correct today?
From my reading of the historical documents, it appears there were several useful functions the senate served when it was created. Some of those functions have been nullified by subsequent amendments (notably #s 16 & 17), and the rest... I've just never seen the senate actually fulfill them.
