Post Body

I'm in the field of Industrial automation at the moment. I program robots and PLC'S ( industrial computers). I have a bachelor's in Electronics and Post graduation in Robotics and industrial automation. As you can clearly see I don't have any experience or education in computer science. However, in the past I have learnt basics of programming on my own for fun. I have a good understanding of data structures, OOPS and programming in general. I don't doubt my ability to learn whatever skills needed and to perform well in the job.

But my question is what's the best way to land a job? I live in Ontario, Canada. There's a consultancy company that provides 4-6 months of training and gets us interviews. Job is guaranteed. But the catch is that I will be in contact for 2 years with less than average pay.

Or I could do some online courses and get certification. Like the Edx one for example. And apply to job postings on my own.

Which one is an effective way to land a job?
