Currently a SalesForce consultant and relatively savvy with tech and hardware and took a few networking classes in college and had a help desk internship a while ago, but I think I’ve deviated from that over the past few years when I got into consulting and I’m not a huge fan of it and living in the Northern Virginia area I’m trying to pivot into a career in data centers as well, there are a ton around here and even more coming - question for people in this subreddit is what is the best way to approach this?
My preferred role would be a technician, focused more on server installations, switch configurations, and general networking.
I’m able and willing to take a pay cut and working on getting certifications for A and Network but the catch-22 is that I have limited time to review for them as I’m usually working anywhere from 10-12 hour days for 5-6 days a week and I can’t sustain this for the long term.
I’ve applied for a few roles, some even with a referral, but get rejected almost immediately.
Any and all advice would be appreciated!
