The frontpage of our sub is clogged with identical information on a regular basis. When the Coinbase news hit this issue became very visible, but it persists well beyond that.

The amount of submissions may reflect the community's approval/joy on news X but that's not the point of a news aggregation website (which Reddit is).

Nobody needs to read the same headline about Dash being integrated into X 4 or 5 times in a row, even if it's being reported by 5 different websites.

That's why we've instituted a new rule that requires you to consolidate your submission into the comment section of either the first submission made on that topic (check the timestamps) or the first one with a non-trivial comment (to avoid hampering discussion).

Instead of a new submission, just make a comment like this:

"Also reported by:

• News source 1
• News source 2
• News source 3
• etc."

Same or near-same headline submissions will be removed as duplicates from now on to keep the frontpage clean, legible and the level of information output high.

That includes making a text post in which you talk about the news/link to it. Comment your thoughts below the earliest submission instead.
