It’s been a few years since I last applied for an apartment to rent. Last time, I spent a week or two viewing units, and got the first unit I applied for, moving in two weeks later.
I know things are much more tricky now. My landlord is refusing to renew my contract in January, when should I start looking for a new one? I’m not eager to be paying two rents, but I also don’t want to be too late and be homeless.
Also, does owning a cat hinder my chances? I know the laws now aren’t meant to discriminate against that, but if the market is so competitive, could it come down to the fact that I have a cat and someone doesn’t?
