Is there any way to improve the scaling of the Claymore with dex and strenght?

I beat DS Remastered about 4 or 5 months ago and I wanna go back to NG .I wanna stick to my weapon Claymore but the scaling is trash.It has C for dex and C for strenght and even towards the end of the game in NG this weapon was not holding.I had something like 27 dex and 35 str and Manus killed me 50 times because I didn’t have enough dps. So this old sword would be hell in NG .How can I improve the scaling? Cuz for reference just beat DS3 literally minutes ago and there you can buff your weapon with sharp/heavy gem.What about DS1??? A for str and B for dex would be nice.Or S for strenght and C for dex.
