Need tips on introducing my dad to dark souls 3.

So, I'm planning on giving my dad ds3 for father's day. He has never played a souls game (he did play Bloodborne, but only briefly) and I want to try to give him the most legit experience, while I co-op with him. I want to avoid overwhelming him and without basically playing the game for him.
