I'm not sure when Miyazaki starting thinking ganging up hard hitting enemies with long reaching and lasting combos against you was anything but infuriating in a game where the camera is too close in to see all of them at once and with delayed attack animations and stamina limits.
In other games with Mob enemies you have powerful aoe attacks or a pulled back camera usually. Hell, even in BB they did this a lot but it worked better bc you move and heal so fast its much more manageable.
The only choices I see are to run or play stealth souls (which turns into a crappy medieval Arkham knockoff). Which isn't fun imo. So you're not getting time to really explore the level or you spend so much time just dodging or waiting.
If the game started off like this I may have never played it and considered the souls series to be unfairly difficultly. Thankfully the base game mostly is the good kind of challenge.
I know I can one on one enemies if I lure them out but that takes forever and is really trying my patience. That's what I mean by stealth souls in some ways
The Dragonslayer Armor fight in the swamp was great though. Love the callback
