Fairly new to the game, why do invaders get so pissed when they get "ganked"?

Had a guy hatemail me because me and my friend gangbanged him while he was invading us. This wasn't the first time either.
If you want a fair fight, go play arena, why the hell do these players act like I am legally required to do an honorable 1v1 with every invader that enters my world?
