It's my first playthrough and I just defeated Ornstein & Smough. I heard they were hard bosses so was a bit terrified of their reputation and bought the giant armor from the blacksmith in Anor Londo since it was better than the armor I had on. I knew you could only get one of their boss souls so I copied my save file before fighting them in case I wanted to do the other one instead. I defeated Super Smough on my 3rd try and I was going to walk away but I felt like I wanted to try Super Ornstein even if I couldn't beat him so I rolled back my save file. To my surprise I was able to beat him on my 2nd try. I am a bit worried that I might be too overleveled or something and might be making my playthrough easier. I'm about SL60 and using a Zweihander 10 two handed with Grass Crest Shield. My stats are VIT: 24, END: 36, STR: 28, DEX: 14. Despite the meme, I don't really like the look of the giant set, so I started using the Black Iron set instead now despite the stats being slightly less favorable for me.
Should I worry about being too overpowered? Despite defeating O&S sooner than I expected, it was an amazing boss fight and left me shaking. I am loving the game so far and I'm glad I finally got into it. I do have a lot of difficulty with titanite demons for some reason compared to bosses. I now have 4 Lord Souls to collect. I plan on tackling DLC after that before Gwyn. If you guys have any tips, would love to hear it.
P.S. I have had Bloodborne sitting in my ps4 library for about 2 years now and was going to play that next but I really want to check out the other dark souls games after playing this. I just found out they are on sale for Steam so I'm considering getting them for now. I'm more interested in DS3 and Bloodborne, so is it okay if I leave DS2 for later?
