Chapter 5 "Tragedy":

We see the chapter starting with a simple motion which is that since now there are 7 people left, all good people shall check on the villains so they can't pull ant BS. However since they do need to take a break during the night and during the guards basically two people shall stay watching and two others shall be free to do what they want and because if one of them turns out to be dead, the other will instantly be suspected as the blackened.

Moving on we have first off the side of the good guys where the now recogered Fred is back on hero training with the others and after they finish (this time without Fred injuring himself) Fred thanks Spongebob (whom he was training when he stopped for the final time and proceeds to give us some information about how he hopes that after this whole issue is over the 3 of them or at least him can be like succesors to Barnacle Boy when he passes away or retires and Spongebob just nods and grins before starting to tell Fred about his own struggles and how while he's smart, he's afraid of losing Patrick because he's the only friend he has left which prompts Fred to say "hey!. I know i'm still a bit plain and not yet there as a remarkable character but that doesn't mean you can ignore the fact that we are friends!" Spongebob asks "We are friends?. After how we treated you back after the second trial?" Fred then says "Hey, i'll admit i kinda earned that treatment after siding with Plankton but considering how you still help me despite us having some friction for that event, i'd say we are friends don't you agree?". This segment ends with Spongebob saying "Sure!" and then fistbumping with Fred.

Then we move on to the villain side and we simply see them wondering how to get someone killed now that they are all super secure to which DB brings a knife he got out of the kitchen in the morning and he says that he has a simple plan that shall work: It simply involves stabbing someone on the Day which will basically cause everyone to get confused on who did it and that way no one will be able to catch the killer. After all, when you're amongst a lot of people, the filthyness of the killer will be undetectable. Then we see to variate Karen asking Plankton why are they still doing this, DB wants to show the filthyness of people if it is something to go by the last trial but what do they have in it to keep going after Krabs is dead. This is when Plankton explains that he simply wants people dead so he can reduce the risk of him and her getting killed since with less and less people there's less that want their heads on a pike.

Moving towards Day 2: We see Patrick and Fred fishing jellyfishes with Patruck having more technique than Fred who almost ends up falling face first after being shocked by one jellyfish. After that business is done we see Patrick telling Fred that Spongebob informed him about them being friends ans that he's fine being his friend to since it took him some time but he has realized being petty about something that he had no control about was kinda dumb. Then again, he IS dumb soooo....Then Fred speaks up saying that Patrick is wrong and that while he may not be the smartest, he still is the one with the most faith in people and that should count for something, after all, his kind are necesary for when people like who i was back during the time between the first and second trial need to recover and get back up and he knows he can trust Patrick on that. Afterwards Patrick says "give me 5 for the Justice Lighters!", Fred says "Justice Lighters?", "that's how we'll call ourselves" Patrick responds, Fred then says "High five Justice Lighter!" and high fives Patrick to end this section.

Then we move on towards Day 3: Here we just have Barnacle Boy and Fred chatting about random stuff till Fred asks hin why is he helping him besides a reason of wanting to help him get over his plainess and he proceeds to explain that just like him, he before he became Barnacle Boy was a simple guy like him. And when he saw how he almost threw away his life, he knew he had to help him since he knows that he has potential to be a hero, after all, he was like him before he became Barnacle Boy so he would know to recognize talent. Afterwards, Fred gives BB a handshake and tells him he won't let him down and he'll save their lives. And BB just says "be careful and ask for help if you need it, after all, not all heroes can win battles on their own".

Meanwhile with the villains we see them planning something, they'll wait till Barnacle Boy and Fred are doing guard to jump them and grab the victim out of them and one of them will kill it which will make it a certain victory for the one who kills since everyone will be suspecting one of the guards or someone who isn't a villain. After DB leaves, Karen questions why Plankton is agreeing to this considering his motivation for still playing the bad guy and he just tells her that he plans on letting DB kill only for him to show a damning evidence to screw him over and what will that incriminating evidence?: Her. Karen asks what does ye mean by her and he says that she'll be given some wide distance cameras to film DB killing so he can't escape without punishment and then the two just grin since they know they have tricked DB into a death trap.

Day 4: We see Fred and Barnacle Boy talking about the latter's adventures as a super hero and giving the former some tips on how to combat a killer when they both get trapped inside Dirty Bubble and then spitted right against a wall where Barnacle Boy's head starts to bleed again and Fred tries to stop him only to eat an knife to the stomach and get pinned to thr ground bleeding out his life and then as he loses consciousness, he can see DB nodding to Plankton and Karen that the plan was a success and then leaving.

A couple of minutes later when Spongebob and Patrick come in to do a change of guard, they don't see BB and Fred which makes them question to the villains where they are and they say that they saw Dirty Bubble attacking them on the wall on the right external side of where they are kept guarded and while Patrick comes to keep guard of the villains, Spongebob goes around and sees both BB and Fred still alive with the latter in critical condition and when Spongebob tries to drag them both to a hospital Fred says "Don't...bother. I'm finished, that prick Dirty Bubble finished me pretty much i'm not gonna make it. However there's still something you can do to stop him or else he'll be uncaughtable". Spongebob answers "W-what?", Fred answers "Kill me." to which Spongebob shouts "WHAT???" and then Fred says that there's not that much time left for BB and that he can still saved but it won't be worth it if DB gets away with it and his fool proof plan so he has decided to sacrifice himself to save everyone because after all "coughs A-after all, that is what heroes do right?. Save everyone, right?" and then Spongebob after struggling for a bit grabs tje knife lodged in Fred's stomach, unlodges it and then kills him by slicing his throat and finally Fred says "Thank you...Spongebob." before dying.

We then switch to Patrick's POV who is too scared because Spongebob hasn't returned yet and when he arrives we see him crying while carrying BB and with blood all over him from unlodging the knife off Fred and Patrick instantly frozing before going to help Spongebob carry Barnacle Boy's body to a hospital and saving him barely by themselves.

The trial is long but not because of any complex stuff but because Spongebob confesses to the murder right at the start while crying and no one belueves him not even rhe villains albeit for a different reason than just blind fauth in him, however, the suspicion then passes to DB once Plankton reveals the filming that shows what DB did and when everyone is about to vote Patrick hits his head against his podium changing into the Smart Patrick mode because he had a hunch, he remembered seeing Spongebob come out last from the crime scene and with his pants bloodied and one could think it was from carrying Barnacle Boy but his injuries could not have reached Spongebob's pants in time for when he discovered the bodies. However if he had killed Fred, as much as he may dislike to even offer that possibility, he could have gotten his pants bloodied in time since Fred was bleeding from his stomach AND his throat which means a lot of blood would have fell down right into Spongebob's pants. One Smart Patrick says this, Spongebob just gives up and the trial ends with Smart Patrick switching into his Patrick mode as he starts to cry because of what is about to happen.

On the post trial we see Spongebob just apologizing for killing Fred to which Patrick says that he shouldn't apologize since he surely had a reason and Spongebob explains Fred's last will which tears up him and Patrick as the villains just curse under their breath for their plan failing. Afterwards we see Spongebob asking Patrick: "Hey Pat", Patrick answers "Yes Spongebob?", Spongebob says "End this killing game, for me, Fred, Squidward, Sandy, Gary and those we have lost along the way. Promise me you'll not do something stupid like we did" and Patrick clears his tears from his face and with a determined grin he says "Sure thing" and after a high five between the two Justice Lights, Spongebob walks to his execution as Patrick starts to cry again.

After his execution, the chapter concludes with Patrick looking at all the houses of the dead people and specially Spongebob's before entering on his house and crying himself to sleep while saying "I promise you Spongebob, i will end this killing game".
