We allowed it to become a premium item rather than a grassroots dance-first event.
r/aves gets super defensive about stuff but really the most coherent definition of rave is "dance event you can easily afford with 1-4 hours of labor". Doesn't matter if it's big, small, legal, illegal, playing mainstream music by headliners or obscure stuff by locals. The point is that it serves the local community above all else.
Cheers!
Honestly, find someone in your life that pays for spectating sports on the regular. The sheer S Q U E E Z E they put on people is the blueprint for everything else big money interest gets their hands on.

Didn't the RAVE Act all but killed proper chillout rooms? That gets real fucked, real fast. Both for sober ravers (gotta catch your breath) and high ones (gotta have place to safely come up/come down in especially when mixing substances).
