I’ll start

I’m about 1/3 through and one thing I like so far is Dan’s near-total focus on France in the beginning of the Viking Age. Most of the time the narrative starts with 793 Lindesfarne and remains Anglocentric from there, when in reality it was France who was getting a lot of the early raiding and it was the collapse of the Frankish empire that allowed an opening for the Vikings to exploit in the first place. It was only after the Franks had shored up their defenses did the Vikings start honing in on England more. Really enjoying the discussion on the impact of the disintegration of Charlemagne’s empire being the hinge factor it was.
